Promoting Health and Balance for Alpacas and People...
Welcome to my profile page on Alpacas in the USA!
My name is Lisa Penhaven, and my alpaca business began in the summer of 2006, when I purchased six alpacas from four different farms (two are Alpacas in the USA Family members!) and through the unique services of Close-Knit Alpacas' Wren Owens. I now have seven huacaya females and agist (board) all of them until I can get my own ranch and settle into farming.
Presently, I am a government contract worker and provide web application design, too. Most of my time and energy is devoted to supporting our troops in Iraq, which is my job as well as my passion. If my efforts can help save a few more soldiers' lives, then the time, the stress and the risk is all worth it. I head back over there in February.
I'm very happy to have found this "Close-Knit Family" of wonderful alpaca farms and businesses...Alpacas in the USA! We all seem to share some important things in common: love for the environment, care of our fellow creatures, and a desire to see this industry succeed!
Web presence is key in this business, and I want to leverage the website and movie to help further understanding of camelids and the fiber industry, with the focus of promoting health and balance for the animals AND the humans.
I plan to eventually expand my business to include an outlet for selling alpaca products, but for now, Iraq and the troops of our great USA are calling! Stay tuned for updates on my growing herd of huacayas as they deliver cria in 2007!
