MIDNIGHT JOY IS A SWEETHEART! She's a quality huacaya dam with good conformation & disposition, & a propensity for throwing large crias.
Like many black alpacas, her crias' fleece is improved due to choosing excellent herd sires with fabulous fleece finer than hers. Her fiber at maturity (2 yr.s of age) was "quite soft for a true black," according to the mills we've sent her fleece to (no histogram was available then). It's uniform in color & has great density.
Close-Knit is thrilled to have launched with such an outstanding dam. We are especially pleased with her first 3 crias: Yahtzee, Mastermind and Black Silken Pearl.
We chose "NWA/Line EINSTEIN," son of Peruvian Hemingway, as her 2nd service sire for her '05 cria, Mastermind. His sire's 1st place win in the 2-yr old Whites category at MaPaca '04 is an indicator of his quality. Super conformation, a gorgeous topknot, dense, crimpy, fine fleece & a sweet temperament. Mastermind, at 2, has a micron under 20!
Joy was held over in '05 & didn't have an '06 cria. Her 3rd offspring, born May 25, 2007, is a solid, true black girl sired by Enchantment's Chaparral. She is cloaked in lustrous, velvety "fiber of the gods!" So, she's been dubbed "Black Silken Pearl."
Close-Knit selected HRAZ Drambuie's Dark Knight for Joy's fourth, '08 cria, and feel pretty confident this will be another solid black cria! Drambuie's Dark Knight consistently passes on his typy head and overall conformation, and his long staple, great shine to his fleece, softness of hand and sweet disposition. This will be a colorful Drambuie granddaughter or grandson! Joy's due to deliver August 24th, '08.
Joy's a very special dam & one Close-Knit would be happy to keep. However, CKA limits the number of alpacas on the farm for optimum management, and now needs to sell a few of the original alpacas purchased to make room for the new crias.
